Reading and Math

Many people have told me that the Peter and Jane series is obsolete and doesn't work but I decided to listen to my mom's advice and give it a shot. After all, she taught me to read using it too. It really works I must say. I started Jedidiah when he was three and he is still interested and enjoying the books as well as library books too. Would highly recommend this series to any one who wants to teach kiddies to read.
His current love is Math so bought a book for him to just practice when he wants to. He enjoys it too and am really proud of him. :)

Mommy's Little Helpers

Our family does not have a helper as we prefer the privacy and also thought it would be a good way to teach the kiddoes to be independent and learn to help around the home too. I started them with small tasks like laying the table for dinner and getting ready the wet towels to wipe thier mouths. Now that they are steadier, they help to clear the table too and put the dishes in the sink. Am really looking forward to them taking over all the housework!!!

I realised that Jedidiah is also going to be 6 soon and its time to learn to let go and let him be more independent in self-care. He was thrilled to be able to bathe himself and I was too as it gives me an extra few minutes to do some other stuff. He was also really proud of himself and so were we! I just found a new way too to keep them less restless especially on rainy days!! Folding clothes! Still not that neat but its a really big help!

hmmm...next cooking?? hahaha!

Goodbye To Our First Nest....

We moved from our first home in December 2010. It was our first home since 2003 and it has so much fond memories and had held and marked many milestones in our lives.
It was our first home when we first got married. It was a blessing as we didn't have much cash to buy a house back then in 2003. The sellers were an elderly couple who was willing to see the house with $0 COV. So we just had to pay for the house using our humble CPF savings.

It was the home our first baby was born followed by the younger girls. This home has seen all the night feeds and early hour wakings. From newborn infants to walking toddlers and to energectic little kids. The happy times, the frustrations, the joys, the fights, tears and laughter. The sound of 2 dogs which later became one and later also faded as the number of kids in the home grew. The sound of happy and angry feet. The 'boo boos' made from falls on the hard marble floor. Much of our eldest chid's first 5 years were in that home.

Will always remember the smell and the quirky neighbours which I had found so annoying due to their over friendlyness. But now its something I actually miss ironically as the new place is much quieter and the neighbours keep much to themselves.

An old chapter has closed. A sweet one that will always hold a fond place in my heart. A blessed 7 years.

And a new one has begun....
May our new home be a blessing to us and to our loved ones as it continues to walk with us through our journey....Thank you Lord for blessing us with this new home.

Roses, Hearts & Chocolates....

Had a wonderful Valentine's Day this year. Usually my hubby is a firm believer that V day is a commercial fad and that everyday can be V day. So this year I wasn't expecting anything and was pleasantly surprised!
But I felt really bad as all these years we never really celebrated on the day itself so I didn't get him anything on my part!

Thanks again Dear. Love you lots!

Visit to Mummy and Daddy Down Under

This year we missed visiting my folks in December last year as we were moving house. Was a hectic move with all the packing and unpacking so by the time things were all done it was almost the end of December. But thanks to Dan we decided to go in January instead so off to Perth we went from the 12th to the 27th of January.

Was a lovely time for us as it was a much needed break for all of us. For me it was wonderful to be able to spend time with my parents whom I hardly get to see except for the times my mother comes down to visit once a year and when we go to visit my folks.

The kids had a whale of a time indulging in cookies and lots of love and doting from my parents! They enjoyed the daily trips to my dad's pie shop where we would enjoy a cup of coffee, some pies, some beer-battered fries and a nice cold ice-coffee topped with vanilla ice-cream made by my dad! It is truly the best coffee float I have ever had! Jedi had a taste of working and went with my dad on Saturday mornings to help out. His job was to watch the camera and alert my dad when customers came! :) Was a good expereince to teach him abt working and earning his money.

Mornings were a nice time of having a slow leisurely breakfast with my mom who took 2 weeks off from work to spend time with us. Then we would either go grocery shopping or cook a simple home-cooked lunch. Dinner was usually whipped up by my dad who has become quite a chef with all his delicious concotions! Then we would enjoy some time together chit chatting or watching tele when the kids went to bed. The kids were treated to my dad's hilarious bedtime stories that made them laugh and giggle. was heartwarming to see the bonding between the kids and my folks.

The 15 days flew by and soon it was time to head back to Singapore. I miss the times very much and look forward to going back again. Though I have never lived in Perth, it somehow feels like a second home me as perhaps that's where my parents are. Hoping that they and my brother can one day be back for good.

Till next year or soon perhaps.....we love you Papa and Mummy! Thanks for being the best granparents ever and for all the generosity and hospitality when we were there!

Shaky Teeth and the Tooth Fairy

Jedi dropped his FIRST tooth on the 11th of January! I forgot that teeth drop at his age so I was actually a bit worried when he first told me that his teeth were hurting and shaky!

Anyways I followed my mom's tradition of being the mysterious Tooth fairy where she would hide little presents under my pillow each time a tooth fell off. A heartwarming feeling and brings back such nice memories. Got him a little book and one for Krisalyn too. (have to be fair). :)

Our boy is growing up! Time is moving so fast!
