Angry Bird Specs!

Jedi had a recent health check in school last week and he came back with a referral letter to see the optometrist at Health Promotion Board. The appointment was all the way in mid October! So I really thank God that I managed to get a slot for him just this Monday on the 27th. Was perfect timing as Dan needed to leave for a business trip on Tuesday and my sis-in-law also kindly gave me a lift all the way down on her way to work. (Thanks Lynda!)

After a detailed checkup, Jedi came out and the optometrist said that he had slight astigmatism and his degrees were about 100 on each side! Guess its the genes as both me and Dan need glasses. Also, his school teacher placed him right at the back of the class and he has been struggling to see the whiteboard despite failed attempts at asking the teacher to change his seating due to his height. (which I never knew he was considered tall as I was always the shortest and had the 'privillege' of sitting right in front!)

Jedi was a little upset at first and really seemed to be dreading wearing the glassess. We went to a few shops and he didn't seem to really find a pair that he liked or suited him.Either too big or too small or way too nerdy!

Then......we chanced upon a shop that had ANGRY BIRD glassess! And Jedi being a fan of these silly birds was so excited when he saw them! He chose a bright yellow framed one at first and I told him that it would look really strange wearing them to school! So he finally settled for a blue one....

Although he only needs to wear it in school, he insists on wearing it doing his homework and almost all the time. Now its the opposite problem of having him wear it too often! But I'm glad its a happy problem as it would be harder if it was the other way round and he wouldn't want to wear them in school when he needed them most!

Here he is, really happy with his glasses!

But I really hope his degree won't go up so fast. But at the amount of homework he's having from school I wouldn't be surprised!

Happy Teachers' Day!

This year for Teachers' Day I managed to get some really nice flowers from Ikea that looked real and would withstand the rough ,excited and ungentle handling from the kids especially these 2 girls! Combined it with a patchwork purse that I felt might be useful for the teachers to put thier little stuff/coins in. Krisalyn was able to help me this year to write the cards and she started complainng when I asked her to help Keziah write too!

Jedi wrote for his favourite teacher in school too, his form teacher who has gone on leave for this term and hopefully will be back in Term 4.

The girls and I also made a visit to a dear teacher who has taught all my three kids in their Nursery years to wish her a Happy Teachers' Day! You have been such a blessing to my three children and we really thank you for all that you have done for them. :) Contiune to shine brightly for the Lord with the gifts that he has bestowed upon you and know that you are dearly loved by the children you have ministered to! God Bless you Miss Grace!

And to all teachers.....BLESSED TEACHERS' DAY!!

Jedi's creations....

Some pictures of Jedi's recent Lego creations....The first picture is a toy robot made with Dan. Used half of his savings from his piggy bank to buy it from the school science fair. Was a good daddy-son bonding time.

The second one is a little shelf he made for his little Lego figurines. He felt so proud of it that he made me take a picture of his creation! He's so much like Dan in this area of builiding and creating. :)

Peanut Butter, Cheese and Seaweed Sandwich

Yes....I know it sounds and looks really gross! But it was my proud invention when I was a kid and I still love it till now. I remember my friends would look at me with great disgust when they heard about this sandwich. The ingredients are simple, just spread peanut butter, place a slice of cheese and put in seaweed on a slice of bread. The taste is a mix of salty, sweet and crunchy.....wierd but I love it!

The best part is I have convereted one of my kids! Jedi loves it too! Hopefully it passes on to the next generation if they have such wierd tastes!

A sweet thought from Jedi....

Got this little gift from Jedi. He told Dan he wanted to buy this for me as he noticed my keychain had broken and he wanted to get me a new one. Very touched by his gesture and am blessed by his thoughtfulness. Its now hanging comfortably with my keys and will be a treasured trinket for me. Thanks Jedi!

Fell in Love with this Bookshelf!

I literaly fell in love with this bookshelf when I saw it! Plus it was at a steal of $50 as the original price was $150! I fell in love with it so much that I lugged the whole flat-packed 20kg of it home in a cab with the three kids in tow as I just couldn't wait till Dan would be free during the weekend! Dan kindly did it up for me the moment he got home today! I'm so thrilled as finally the reading corner that I've long wanted to do up is ready and the kids can help themselves to the books without them falling down on the other bookcase in their room.

Welcome to our little reading corner! One shelf for each of our three dearies!

I think I'm nuts but I'm just in soooooo in love with the cuteness of the shelf! Plus it has wheels!!
